On Tuesday, the 16 May, the local community of Melton, Exford and Eynesbury were shocked and saddened to hear about a bus crash at Exford involving 45 school children. The Melton Junior Football Netball Club wishes the children and families impacted by this life-changing event all the best with their recovery.
To show our support, the Melton Junior Football Netball Club ran a fundraising event at the club over the weekend. We are proud of the efforts of all our members and canteen staff in raising money for this worthy cause. Our donation of $1802.10 is comprised of $824 raised through our recent Mother's Day Raffle, $232.05 in direct contributions and $746.05 from our canteen sales over the weekend.
Our donation will be deposited into the Melton Primary School bank account. The Principal of Melton Primary School, Vanessa Harrison, is working closely with the Melton Network of Schools, the Department of Education and Exford Primary School Principal Lisa Campo to ensure the funds are used where needed.
By sending our donation directly to Melton Primary School, we can be assured that 100% of our donation will go to the children that need it. The Department of Education, through its legal division, is working to ensure that the funds are going where they are best needed for the families and to fill in the gaps between TAC cover and the current needs of these children.
The players, members and the Melton Junior Football Netball Club committee wish everybody involved in this incident good luck.
